AYUSH is that the acronym of the medical systems that are being practiced in India like Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. These systems basically based on the medical philosophies which are already defined in a planned manner and also represent healthy living with established concepts on prevention of diseases and promotion of health.

Ayurveda – Basic Concepts

Indian subcontinent has an ancient medicine system which is called Ayurveda. It is said to have originated in India about 5000 years back. The word Ayurveda may be a conjugation of two Sanskrit words ‘ayus’, meaning 'life' and ‘veda’, meaning 'science', thus ayurveda literally means the 'science of life'.

Diagnosis

In Ayuveda diagnosis is usually done of the patient as an entire. The diagnosis also involves the following examinations:

• General physical examination
• Pulse examination
• Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
• Urine examination
• Examination of the faeces
• Examination of tongue and eyes
• Examination of skin and ear for auditory functions.

Treatment

This treatment has four things which are essential. These are:

• The patient
